Thanks to our pioneering work in developing the ground-breaking Smart Rail Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) with SilverRail and East Midlands Railway (EMR), Cammax are delighted to reveal we have been featured in the latest edition of reputed rail industry publication Rail Technology Magazine.
Rail Technology Magazine is the leading independent news brand for the UK’s rail industry. The publication liaises with industry leaders and influencers to understand rail industry challenges and key objectives, enabling them to report unique and exclusive news, comment, analysis and best practice across multiple channels.
In the latest edition of the magazine, February/March, Cammax’s work with SilverRail and East Midlands Rail has been heavily covered.
Following successful discussions with East Midlands Railway and partners, Cammax were tasked with developing a sophisticated new TVM product that would move the TVM from being a basic pre-programmed ticketing machine to a dynamic shop window that EMR can offer their full product range through, even down to last minute on-the-day advanced tickets.
After months of hard work and collaboration efforts, the first new Smart Rail TVMs have now been deployed and are in operation at Derby and Uttoxeter stations. Unlike older ticket vending machines, the new Smart Kiosks, which are a first of its kind, can be constantly updated and offer the full range of travel tickets. The software is also much more intuitive and user friendly, making it much easier for passengers to find the best and cheapest fares available, regardless of whether they want to travel immediately or in the future.
The new Smart Rail TVMs will support the industry’s ambition for increased smart ticketing usage, is much more modern and reliable, and will improve the overall experience for rail passengers. Cammax will also continue be to work with EMR and SilverRail to improve these machines for the future with the next phase of the rollout supporting the direct purchase and the pick-up of pre-purchased ITSO smart tickets.
