The curtain has closed on the 12th edition of Transport Ticketing Global (TTG) and, after a successful few days full of lively debate and discussion, 2020’s edition will be fondly remembered as a huge success.
TTG is the world’s biggest exhibition for smart ticketing and mobility, bringing together over 1,200 transport professionals from over 60 countries. Through in-depth case studies from leading operators, technical workshops, engaging presentations and panel discussions, TTG serves as the ultimate platform for transport professionals to set the industry agenda.
Hosted at London’s iconic Olympia venue, this year’s event focused on the ability of transport operators to provide a smooth and complementary multimodal experience. The Cammax team joined in plenty of debates as we discussed at length the benefits of deploying SMART ticketing solutions to improve efficiency, manage queues in peak times and help transport operators achieve frictionless and interconnected travel.
There was plenty of discussion and debate around some of the SMART ticketing projects Cammax have undertaken over recent years, including our ground-breaking work manufacturing and deploying iPoint SMART ticket vending machines (TVMs) as part of Bristol City Council’s new Metrobus scheme. The Cammax iPoint machines offer a wide range of services for bus passengers, whether they are getting on a Metrobus or not. Passengers are able to purchase tickets for the MetroBus as well as top up their smart cards via the machines. The iPoints also serve as an emergency point and relay real-time bus information.
As we embrace moves towards a cashless society, the iPoints enable customers to buy tickets using contactless or chip & pin bank cards, as well as facilitating alternative mobile and app-based payment methods.
As well as discussing the merits of existing SMART ticketing projects, new for 2020 the Cammax team showcased a new type of smart ticketing dispensing kiosk and a new slimline design of the existing stratus outdoor smart ticketing machine at the event. Taking transport ticketing innovation to new heights, Cammax are helping to fill roles that are currently vacant in the smart travel marketplace and are revolutionizing how transport payments are made.
Amongst the dozens of companies who joined Cammax at this year’s event were representatives from numerous transport authorities as well as big multi-national payment service providers like Mastercard and Visa. Plenty more transport operators and technology providers were in attendance which made for a lively, enthusiastic and ultimately successful event.
Returning for a second year, TTG again played host to a special ‘SMART Dragons Den’ competition whereby budding start-ups where given the chance to pitch their products to the entire transport community, in a bid to win investment.
New for the 2020 instalment, TTG organisers also introduced a brand-new 30-seat workshop theatre to the show floor featuring sessions and workshops focused on smart mobility. From passenger data analytics and journey planning to smart parking and car-sharing, the sessions explored the latest developments in smart mobility that are moving us closer to truly seamless multimodal transport.
Following Cammax’ success at this year’s event, and the positive feedback we have received from many attendees, we are already looking forward to next year’s edition of TTG.
