This year’s Smartex Transport Card Forum (TCF) has officially come to a close, and the Cammax team is now back at our Castleford HQ after what was a hugely insightful two days in Newcastle last week. Now that we’ve had time to reflect, we’d like to express our gratitude to all who engaged with us during the event. Whether you visited our stand or shared thoughts with our team members, your interest and conversations contributed significantly to making this TCF a huge success for Cammax!
Established in 1997 at the request of the Department for Transport (DfT), TCF has grown into a pivotal event for the UK’s Smart transport sector. This annual two-day conference brings together a diverse group of professionals, including transport operators, local authorities, technology suppliers, and industry consultants.
The forum’s primary goal is to facilitate discussions and debates around the current state of Smart transport technology, address ongoing challenges, and explore future opportunities. What sets TCF apart is its blend of informative presentations and practical demonstrations, offering attendees a comprehensive view of the latest developments in Smart ticketing and transport solutions.
This year’s forum delivered a compelling programme that addressed the most pressing issues and exciting developments across the Smart transport landscape. The event kicked off with an engaging welcome address, setting the stage for two days of insightful presentations and absorbing debates.
One of the standout sessions was Kamelia Jones from the Rail Delivery Group who gave a compelling talk on ‘Rail Industry Ticketing Strategy’. This presentation offered valuable insights into the future direction of rail ticketing, sparking discussions on how the industry can better serve passengers while embracing technological advancements.
Another highlight was Matt Smallwood’s presentation from Transport for the North, which emphasised the importance of putting passengers first in connected journeys. This customer-centric approach resonated with many attendees, reinforcing the need for solutions that prioritise user experience and convenience.
The second day maintained the momentum, with Tim Roberts from Tracsis iBlocks exploring future ticketing requirements from a customer’s perspective. This forward-looking presentation challenged attendees to think innovatively about their own offerings.
Kent Council’s presentation on their MaaS (Mobility as a Service) pilot was also well-received, providing a real-world case study of innovative transport solutions in action. This practical example sparked numerous conversations about the potential for similar initiatives across the UK.
Throughout the event, operators, local authorities, and industry leaders engaged in productive discussions about the challenges and opportunities facing the smart ticketing sector. The forum provided an excellent environment for collaboration and idea-sharing, with many attendees leaving equipped with new strategies to implement in their own organisations.
TCF 2024 witnessed an impressive array of cutting-edge smart ticketing technologies, and Cammax was thrilled to be among the innovators presenting their latest solutions. Our stand became a focal point for attendees interested in pioneering ticketing solutions, with our team engaging in numerous conversations throughout the two-day event.
We were particularly excited to demo our market-leading Smart Rail Ticket Vending Machine (TVM), which garnered significant attention. This advanced solution, featuring an intelligent UK Journey planner and real-time information updates, exemplifies our commitment to enhancing the passenger experience and streamlining operations for transport providers.
Alongside our flagship TVM, we presented our comprehensive suite of Smart ticketing and payment solutions. From innovative Pick-up Posts to Smart Ticketing Engines and Mobile Phone Applications, we offered a glimpse into the future of integrated transport solutions.
Throughout the forum, our team had the opportunity to connect with a diverse range of visitors. We engaged in meaningful discussions about specific industry challenges and how our tailored solutions could address them. It was particularly rewarding to share insights from our successful collaborations with East Midlands Railway, Nottingham City Council, and Bristol Council, demonstrating the real-world impact of our technology.
These conversations not only allowed us to showcase our expertise but also provided valuable insights into the evolving needs of the sector. We came away from TCF24 with a deeper understanding of the challenges facing transport operators and local authorities, and we’re excited to use these insights to further refine and develop our offerings.
The curtain may have closed on TCF24, but we’re already looking forward to next year’s expo. We left Newcastle feeling energised by the positive feedback we received and we’re excited about turning the connections we made at the conference into lasting partnerships.
Between now and next year’s forum, we’ll continue to develop our Smart ticketing solutions, always striving to stay ahead of the curve and deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the transport industry. Our team is committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in Smart ticketing, with several exciting projects in the pipeline.
