In 2014, Coventry City Council began the process of closing their cash offices- replacing over the counter face to face services with self service kiosks.
The kiosks were designed to accept payments via card, cash and cheque and dispense change and receipts where required. The kiosks were equipped with high capacity cash handling devices and are capable of processing over £200,000 worth of transactions per month.
The Council has deployed three self service payment kiosks which are responsible for processing payments for Council Tax, PCNs, Invoices, Housing Benefit Overpayments, Business rates, Litter & Waste, Planning Applications, Building Control, Blue Badge Payments and many more.
In the first 18 months of deployment, the kiosks have processed nearly 85,000 transactions worth over £9,000,000.
